The Best Local Resources Article Series

Today we are going to take a look at the best way to get the best deals on Clothing and accessories.  Although this information is good for both the female and male consumer, we will focus on the female influence and flair of the interview with one of our dearest and most respected friends, Miss Precious Harris.

We will start with revealing the two best Goodwill Super Stores in the area to buy women’s clothing and accessories.  The first store is here in Arlington at the corner of Cooper and Arkansas at 1100 West Arkansas.  Their phone number is 817-459-2688.  The store hours for both stores are M-T 9am to 7pm, F-S 9am to 9pm and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.  The second of her favorite Goodwill Super Stores is at 825 West Pipeline Road in Hurst Texas.  Their phone number is 817-590-0327

Miss Harris assured me, in this interview, that although some of the other local Goodwill stores, like the S. Cooper and the Matlock Store may have good deals on women and men’s clothing and accessories from time to time, that they are not as consistent and that they don’t seem to have the pricing standard that these two stores do.  They do have some great deals on household goods and the like.  Another great tip from Precious is that the third Wednesday in every moth – everything in the entire store is 50% off. This is a GREAT TIP.

There are a number of other thrift stores in the area and we plan to do an entire article on these stores and HOW TO shop them.  A quick mention as far as second hand and a few new things, especially accessories, is the mention of the Traders Village Flea Market and Precious said that there were some really special deals here.  But plan to spend some time, probably an entire day just scouting the best ones out.

Another couple of great stores mentioned were the Ross store in Arlington and Grand Prairie.  These stores have great deals on new designer clothing and accessories, a particular item that Precious shops for in these stores are jeans.  These stores take less time to shop and are easily accessible in strip shopping centers.

Burlington is another place to get discounts on designer and classic clothing.  This store has everything from jeans and slacks to handbags, jackets and coats, plus lots of great accessories.  Another great store is the plus sizes at Sublett and Cooper has great deals on luggage, handbags, fashion jewelry and sterling silver.

Sam Moon in Dallas on Harry Hines and in Irving at 211 Cowboys Parkway number is (972) 484- 3084.  These stores are famous for high quality designer handbags and luggage.   While we’re on Harry Hines, let’s talk a little bit about the Asian Trading Company and the other greatly discounted stores in the discount corner between Walnut Hill Lane and IH635.   These stores are great for wholesale/retail pricing and offer true wholesale prices for those who buy with a business tax ID and/or in bulk.  Precious told me that it’s best to plan to end your shopping days at these store locations on Harry Hines by 4:00 pm because that un – sundry movement begins in this neighborhood shortly after dusk.

For great deals on jeans, Precious shops at TJ Maxx and Ross.  A note that I have been taking seriously, is the fact that the old 30’s Madison Avenue look with the bunched crops with full pleated and flowing bottom fittings in the dress that depicts this era the best are in full fashion swing this fall.  They come in lots of great bright and subdued colors and several two-tone patterns including prints and solids.

If you are looking for the best deals in the D/FW area and want the smartest fashions and the most recent trends, just keep up with us as we interview Precious Harris in future articles.  Please don’t hesitate to leave your comment about tips that you may know of here at, terrific deals, great value and the newest fashions are just a beginning of the great resources that we will be featuring in upcoming articles.  Leave your suggestions, comments and ideas.  We look forward to them. There’s A Great New Face Book Group, That You Should Check Out!

March 12, 2010

Hello High Point friends.  Pastor Gary Simons has started a new Face Book Group called “Church by God’s Design”.  Its name sake is, of course, Pas’ book by the same title – “Church by God’s Design”.  The subtitle is a brief and excellent summation of the content of the book, “Building A Modern Day Book Of Acts Church”, which focuses on God’s vision for the Church through the seven key principals of the Seven Pillars vision as given to Pastor Gary.

The group features news and updates of upcoming events at High Point Church and excerpts from the book.  Here is a very recent post and update from Pastor Gary, taken from the Face Book wall.

“I am so excited about our Church by God’s Design Conference.” “Mark your calendars now to attend the conference October 20th-23rd.” “I am especially excited to announce the following Seven Pillars speakers for the Church by God’s Design Conference:”

Blogging at Denny’s Blog For Real!

March 5, 2010

Blogging At Denny’s

I’m back.  Yep I’m actually back at Denny’s with my lap top.  I do mean my lap top.  I have been using this little screen Toshiba for over a month.  I finally got my Work Horse HP Pavilion dv9000 with the original Windows Media edition software back from the local Fry’s.  That experience, was about to become a blog project of its own.  Thank God that one of the employees found a copy of back up discs in a trash pile that she was looking in.

But the last post in regards to this little project right here was on the Resources Unlimited Blog so I decided to post this transitional post onto it and the new Blogging at Denny’s blog.

There has been a lot of hardware, software and regular daily weirdness that has kept me form the blog posts of the past few weeks and although I realize the importance of the utility post and of not showing up for blog work, there has been enough going on to keep me completely out of the blog sphere altogether.

I’m not trying to excuse my absence just let you faithful readers know why you may have missed me and my comments.

This post doesn’t promise to give a whole lot up itself, but I believe that it at least offers some explanation and starts to bring the upcoming articles of substance into focus and recognition as real copy or content.  Any way just suffice it to say that the Denny’s is very quite.  Not the usual 20 cops or any of the local college flavor that slips in from time to time.  Just me,  a manager, the La La’s  (Hispanic bus boy and outspoken server which call each other that out of misunderstood broken English goofs) and another server and a cook.  All of which seem to be in the back minding their own business, whatever that is.

They are all coming alive with mandatory work presentations in the back as I write.  This post will be kind of short tonight because of all other articles that I need to be writing for the other (not as fun but more mandatory blogs) that I need to and must be writing soon.

More to come – but I have to go!!!  See you at the next Denny’s blog post!  TKR

So I’m starting a Blogging at Denny’s blog!

Grants Galore!

February 15, 2010

Notice our new about page.  We are looking forward to getting some new resources into our blog.  There is a new link called in the Grants and resources category, check it out.  It is the local clearing house type of library that you can join for just $100.00 per year and get the best grant research tools for the entire area in the entire D/FW area.  They are the, Funding Information Center and are the central clearing house for all government grants, endowments, scholarships and virtually any grant, no- payback loan, and private foundation source grants, endowments, in-kind donations, training, and philanthropically sound seminars and education in the entire system.  This place is awesome.  The director is accommodating and professional as are all of the volunteers.

You can visit this place in person in Fort Worth or work completely on-line.  Their contact information is on the site. Think about it for less than $8.35 per month you can have access to everything that the grant hawkers have been trying to sell you for years.  The educational workshops seminars and classes will cost you a fraction of what they would if you don’t become a member and almost nothing if you do become a member, compared to what these hawkers and professional consultants charge to do the same thing that they will teach and make available to you. You can do it better yourself, because you know more what to search for and how to present it better than any third party would.  If you choose to you could turn around and offer your services to others and know how to do it professionally, scrupulously, with integrity and legally. There are laws about the offering of these services for fees and they can teach you about this too.  You can learn all about how to start a non-profit organization and find all of the tools and resources that you will need to do it at the Funding Information Center. Check them out.
